The Hothouse – Dullstroom – James + Jessica Wedding

The Hothouse – Dullstroom – James + Jessica Wedding

James & Jessica tied the knot at the amazing The Hothouse Country Venue just outside Dullstroom! What an amazing weekend filled with friends and family, stunning views and a great love story! Below is a little bit more about this fantastic couple in their own words!
We met in March 2012 when James asked me for a sip of my drink at a party called Tour de Melrose. We had so many mutual friends and acquaintances, that it was bizarre that we hadn’t met before.

Rebellie Game Farm – Clarens – Wesley +Bailey Wedding

Rebellie Game Farm – Clarens – Wesley +Bailey Wedding

Wesley & Bailey tied the knot at Rebellie, just outside the picturesque Clarens! This was a special wedding for me as I know the family well, having photographed Bailey’s mom’s wedding a few years prior! Nicer people you cannot find and it was a privilege for myself and my wife to spend time with this amazing couple and their friends and family, documenting a very special occasion. It was also my very first new year’s wedding so it really was a special one for me! Below is some more about this fantastic couple in their own words!
Wesley and I went to the same High school, so technically we knew each other then, but we never really socialised, he was too shy to talk to me. A few years later I came across his profile on Instagram and I sent him a message, definitely made the first move. From then, we chatted and met up, just a few days before I was off to Bushmans for my parents wedding, and he went off to Mauritius for work. A few weeks later we reunited and spent every day together, we just connected and the rest was history.
Time flies when you’re having fun, which is why I can’t remember if it was our second or third anniversary (maybe even fourth haha). But we planned a trip down to the Eastern Cape (Bushmans). He woke me up very early on a miserable cold day to go for a hike, which I’m usually always keen for, but the weather swayed my mood. After a lot of insisting and persuading, we packed a lunch and some drinks and hit the road. The hike was about two hours to Diaz Cross, which we had done the previous year, it’s so beautiful and is one of my favourite things to do when we are in the area. Wesley set up a picnic under the same rock cave we spent the previous year, but this year was much colder and I didn’t want to sit in the shade. So I sat by myself in the sun and kept insisting he move everything to where I was (with no luck). He called me over after a few minutes of sulking, I thought I had won and he was prepared to move, as I was about to boast about it, he played ‘somewhere over the rainbow’ and dropped to his knee. I’ve never been happier! It was so special and so well thought out, and I nearly ruined all his plans by not wanting to go on the hike and not wanting to sit with him, haha. We spent the next 2 hours drinking champagne, eating and sharing all the stories that lead up to this moment. It was the most perfect day, I will cherish it always.
Our wedding day would not have been possible without all the help from our friends and family. It was a very do it yourself wedding, from the food to the décor, and everyone got stuck in and made it beautiful. We went to Clarens 2 days before the wedding and had a stretch tent of nightmares to put up. As stressful as it was, and as much as it didn’t look like a stretch tent at all, the memories made with our friends and family, struggling with it for two days are priceless. Thank you to each and every person who came through to help that day, we are forever grateful.
When planning our wedding, we both didn’t want this big extravagant occasion. That is why we decided on New Years Eve, It’s much easier to plan a party than a wedding. And a party it was! The state of the venue and the people the next day had some stories to tell. We chose our Venue (Rebellie Game Farm) for the view alone, everything else was just an added bonus. In fact, we loved the view so much, we got the co-ordinates of the exact spot we got married tattooed on our wrists, now that’s commitment! We are so thankful and blessed to have such an amazing group of friends and family, to have driven all the way to Clarens to celebrate with us. It truly was the best day of our lives, a day we will celebrate big time every year, and memories we will never forget.
To our parents (The Thompsons and the Greybes) thank you for all your help, love and support. You made our wedding day more than we could have ever imagined. We love you!
It was an honour to capture your amazing wedding day! We wish you guys a lifetime of happiness, may you be blessed every step of the way!

Black Horse Brewery – Francois + Tiffany Wedding

Black Horse Brewery – Francois + Tiffany Wedding

Francois & Tiffany tied the not at the magnificent Black Horse Brewery in Magaliesburg, one of my most favorite venues! Below is a little bit more about this amazing couple!

Francois and Tiffany went to the same school but never made actual contact because Francois is a year or four older than Tiffany. It is only some 15 years later that they saw each other again at a 30th birthday party. It was August 2015 when Tiffany’s best friend was organizing a 30th birthday party for her brother who was Francois’ best friend. The two made contact, Francois asked Tiffany for a dance and was initially rejected. A little later that evening Tiffany finally surrendered, Francois’ persistence was triumphant. They danced to Afrikaans music and although Tiffany prefers club music, Francois knew this was the start of an exciting adventure.

Francois asked Tiffany out on a coffee date with him a few days later, they started dating, and in December 2017 Francois took Tiffany to Cape Town to “celebrate her birthday”. They arrived in Cape Town on Tiffany’s birthday. Francois HAD to ask Tiffany on the same day. Francois had a plan to ask Tiffany on the beach so they went “sightseeing” to  find a beach that was worthy of this big occasion. Tiffany was under the impression we were sightseeing. Finding a nice beach to ask the big question proved to be impossible, Cape Town was being its windy self. It was until around 4PM that Francois sent a message to a colleague of his who lives in Cape Town to hear if he knew about a nice quiet and beautiful beach that would be best for this special occasion. He replied in big letters: LLANDUDNO BEACH. Francois Googled it and knew they had to get there before sunset, and get there fast! Francois rushed into the nearest bottle store to purchase a high quality Champagne. When asked by Tiffany why the expensive Champagne? Francois replied: “It’s not every day we get to celebrate your birthday on a beach in Cape Town and watch the sun set.” Tiffany later admitted it was very easy to believe this because it is so in Francois’ nature to come up with spur-of-the-moment romantic ideas.

They parked and Llandudno Beach and Francois who had his GoPro Backpack on his back was almost dragging Tiffany down the stairs to get to the beach. “Come come, come quick! The sun is about to set!” he yelled. They arrived at the most beautiful beach and witnessed the start of the perfect sunset. There were only two surfers and a couple on the beach when they got there. Without wasting any time Francois gathered the couple who were walking nearby to come closer and “take a picture”  for them. When the man agreed to manage the GoPro his wife was tasked to do the same with Tiffany’s iPhone. Francois told everyone it was Tiffany’s birthday, everyone was smiling and happy, he then laid down the backpack that contained the bottle of champagne, two champagne flutes and a serviette he had brought along from the hotel.. Francois handed Tiffany the two champagne flutes and went back into the backpack, retrieved the bottle of champagne then stuck his hand back into the backpack, Tiffany went silent and realized at this moment, something was up! Francois took out the ring, went down one knee and asked the question. Tiffany said YES!

The wedding was perfect, Francois & Tiffany would not have done anything differently. No wedding is perfect but for us, EVERYTHING went according to plan, we really did not expect it. Every person or business we dealt with exceeded our expectations, we cannot be more grateful for this. The rest of the wedding consisted of our SPECIAL friends and CLOSE family, an AWESOME party, some DELICIOUS food, it was simply PERFECT.

Our plan for the future is continue our exciting adventure in a home of our own and spend maximum time with the special people in our lives that are here now and those who are still on their way!

I want to thank you guys for allowing me to capture your very special day. We had such a great time creating memories with you guys and I wish you all of God’s grace for your future together!

Victorian Manor – Christiaan + Jillian Wedding

Victorian Manor – Christiaan + Jillian Wedding

Christiaan & Jillian tied the knot at the magnificent Victorian Manor in Cullinan! It was n amazing day filled with laughter, love and happiness! None one tells a love story better than the bride herself, so below is a little bit more about this lovely couple in Jillian’s own words!

A whirlwind of magic that keeps our love growing
(Jillian and Christiaan Erasmus 19 May 2018)

Our ‘forever after’ began in September 2014 when we met at a mutual friend’s birthday party. We immediately formed a friendship which stands as the foundation of our love and happiness. This culminated in our engagement one sunny day in the beautiful Drakensburg mountains.

A long overdue weekend away in September 2017 was the ideal opportunity for Christiaan to plan the perfect proposal. We planned a hike to the ‘Nandi’ waterfall (a Zulu name meaning Sweet). I am crazy about photos so we took many along the way and I was excited to take some selfies at the waterfall. Christiaan set up the camera and when the countdown to our photo was done, he turned to me, went down on one knee and popped the question “Will you marry me?” I was thrilled, and after shrieks and giggles I replied “Yes!” It also turns out that this amazing man had set the camera on video and caught the whole proposal live so that we could share it with our friends and family.

Wedding arrangements began soon after and before we knew it Saturday 19 May 2018 arrived. We took all the planning and preparations in our stride but welcomed any assistance and advice from family and close friends. Thanks to everyone’s contributions, our wedding day was perfect. Attention to detail ensured that the day was filled with laughter, love and happiness which was all we wanted.

Highlights of our wedding day included our warm & intimate wedding ceremony. Our minister, Charlie Wernich, lead Christiaan, myself and our parents in a moving family unity ceremony. Each father lit their family candle before handing it over to our mothers, who then together handed their family candle to each of us. Christiaan and I then lit our new family candle. “Light represents life” were the words spoken over us. Charlie then brought the ceremony to an end by leading us in a prayer of blessing for our journey going forward.  It was an incredible moment.

We had an awesome time with all our family and friends at the reception which was filled with heartfelt speeches, laughter, dancing and an overall ‘lekker kuier’. We had been advised by many people to ensure we take a few moments throughout the day to just ‘enjoy the moment’. We took this to heart and made sure that we shared a chat, a photo or a dance with everyone that witnessed our special day.

Christiaan and I look forward to our bright future together. We complement each other in every possible way. We are each other’s pillar of strength through anything that comes our way. We enjoy living a life of quality. On our agenda together will be some travelling and we hope to have our own new little Erasmus family one day.

Best friends, Love and Happiness. This is the recipe to our ‘whirlwind of magic’ that keeps our love blossoming and growing from strength to strength.

We started the early the morning with Christiaan and the guys at the Cullinan Premier Hotel. Steeped in history it made the perfect backdrop for the lads preparation and set the tone for the rest of this amazing day. We then spent the rest of the morning capturing the preparation of the lovely Jillian and her sisters whom was also her bridesmaids for the day. Christiaan arrived at the venue in a mint BMW classic motorcycle, waiting for the love of his life to arrive a few minutes later. Christiaan could not contain his emotions as his lovely bride walked down the aisle to meet him, not a dry eye in the church! After the ceremony we headed to the railway station for the couple portraits and were treated to the most dramatic and colorful sunsets! The rest of the evening was spent with friends and family and a whole lot of partying! I want to thank you guys for allowing me to capture your amazing wedding day! May you enjoy a lifetime of happiness together and we blessed every step of the way!

Cussonia Crest Wedding Venue – Petrus + Jani Wedding

Cussonia Crest Wedding Venue – Petrus + Jani Wedding

Petrus & Jani tied the knot at the amazing Cussonia Crest situated between Hartbeespoort and Pretoria. These two lovely people met two years ago during a young adult braai at church orchestrated by mutual friends! September last year Petrus asked for Jani’s hand in marriage on her birthday while at Cape Agulhas!

We started the morning with Petrus and his best man, scoping out the nature reserve behind the venue planning the locations where we would get the best sunset with Hartebeespoort dam in the distance. The views were just spectacular and we got some really amazing groom portraits with the guys!

We then spent the afternoon with the ladies during their prep, Jani joined by her two sister-in-laws. Jani looked absolutely breathtaking in an amazing Peter Bondesio creation as just he can produce!

After the ceremony it was time for the much anticipated couple shoot and it did not disappoint! We started off at a site with the largest Rock Fig trees I have ever seen! We then made our way to the top of a mountain overlooking Hartbeespoort and we were treated to a sunset I have not seen in some time! It was literally as if the sky was on fire! The love Petrus & Jani share with each other was evident in every kiss and hug they shared during the session.

We ended of an amazing day with a night portrait shoot around the venue grounds, with family and friends enjoying each other’s company late into the night! Thank you for allowing me to capture your beautiful day! I wish you guys all the best for your journey ahead and may God bless you very step of the way!

Pont de Val Riverside Escape – Mathias + Sian Wedding

Pont de Val Riverside Escape – Mathias + Sian Wedding

Mathias & Sian tied the knot at the magnificent Pont de Val Riverside Wedding Venue outside Parys. Their love story started 7 years ago and reads a little like an international fairy tale..Mathias is German and moved to London without being able to speak any English ready to make a life for himself. Sian moved to London from South Africa looking for an adventure. The stars aligned as both Mathias and Sian found them selves working at the Andaz Hotel in London. Mathias caught Sian’s eye and she had a mutual friend invite him along on a night out and as they say the rest was history. After years together in London they moved to Melbourne Australia to continue growing their professional and private lives together. When Mathias popped the question in the Kruger Park when they were out on holiday it was decided then that South Africa is where they wanted to say I do.
